General Information

The Kuriakose Elias Group of Educational Institutions were established in the year 1991, situated at the eastern side of the hillock of Mannanam, Kottayam. Mannanam is the Holy place, where St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara started the CMI Congregation and his first Sanskrit school. The schools are named after this great luminary of the 19th century Kerala and managed by the CMI St. Joseph's Province, Thiruvananthapuram.

Kuriakose Elias School, was started on July 16, 1991 is an unaided English Medium School, is recognized by the Government of Kerala, with the U P and High School sections. In June 1995, Kindergarten Section and Day Care Center was added to the School. The ICSE syllabus was introduced in the year 2000. The ICSE Board approved the new school and so it got affiliated to the ICSE in February 2002. The ICSE school eventually became permanently affiliated to the ICSE Board, Delhi, with the Higher Secondary Section (ISC). In July 2002, the recognized State Syllabus was upgraded to a Higher Secondary School with courses in Science, Commerce and Computer Science.

GENERAL INFORMATION

 School building

The campus of K.E. is green and fresh. The buildings are constructed in a way to attract the heart and soul of a student. Any student who gets into the buildings of K.E. will experience the architectural beauty and elegance. No compromise is experimented in keeping the style and quality of the buildings at K.E. We add on time to time to the needs and demands of the time.

The school campus is a combination of three buildings connected together. The main block constructed in the year 1993 holds the Administrative section, Library, Labs and State syllabus class rooms.

Chavara Block constructed in the year 2017 as a memorial of the Silver Jubilee of the school consists of Chavara Boarding for the Boys and Girls, ICSE class rooms and Chavara Hall which accommodates around 2000 students.

K.E. Residential Block constructed in the year 2018, includes K.E. Boarding for Boys and well equipped modern kitchen, fully furnished air conditioned Dining Hall and Kinder Garten class rooms.

The entire campus is fenced and is always under the surveillance of CCTV camera for better security. Fire and safety devices, elevators etc. are also provided for the safety and convenience of the students.

 School Uniform

Students should wear the school uniform in the school on every working day.

The uniform of the boys of the Higher Secondary division is consists of blue-black coloured pants, and light lilac coloured half sleeved shirt, school tie, ordinary black belt, dark blue coloured socks and executive style black shoes. The pants should be stitched in executive style with high waist. The shirt should be properly inserted all the time. Low waist pants are strictly forbidden in the school and on the school campus.

The school uniform for the Higher Secondary girls consists of a blue-black coloured midi, overcoat, and light lilac coloured half sleeved shirt with school tie, school belt, dark blue socks and plain black shoes. Hair should be combed and tied with black hair band.

The school uniform for boys in the UP and High School section consists of blue-black coloured pants and a salmon coloured half sleeved shirt with school tie, school belt, dark blue socks and plain black shoes. The pants should be stitched as in the executive style with high waist. The shirt should be properly inserted at all the time. Low waist pants are strictly forbidden in the school and on the school campus.

The school uniform for girls in Std VII and HS section consists of a blue-black coloured midi, overcoat and a salmon coloured half sleeved shirt with school tie, school belt, dark blue socks and plain black shoes. Hair should be combed and plaited to either side and tied with black hair band.

The school uniform for girls in Std V and Std VI consists of a blue-black coloured midi, and a salmon coloured half sleeved shirt with school tie, school belt, dark blue coloured socks and plain black shoes. Hair should be combed and plaited to either side and tied with black hair band.

The uniform of the boys of the LP section consists of blue-black coloured shorts and blue coloured half sleeved shirt with school tie, school belt, dark blue coloured socks and plain black shoes.

The uniform of the LP girls consists of a frock with pinafore in blue-black colour and a blue coloured half sleeved shirt with school tie, school belt, dark blue coloured socks and plain black shoes.Hair is combed, plaited to either side and tied with black hair band.

The uniform of the KG boys consists of a blue-black coloured shorts, a red and white striped sleeveless shirt, school belt, red coloured socks and plain black shoes.

The uniform of KG girls consists of red and white frock with blue black pinafore, school belt, red coloured socks and black shoes.

Students upto class IV are allowed to wear colour dress on their birthdays.

Students should be neatly dressed in full school uniform in the school. They should also carry their identity card as part of the uniform.

 Disciplinary Rules

A sense of discipline and respect for rules have to be inculcated and cultivated in the students in their schooldays so that they may grow into disciplined citizens. A strict observance of the rules and regulations of the school helps them in this regard. So the rules and regulations have to be looked upon not as restrictions imposed on them but as part of their school life that helps them in the formation of genuine character. All the school activities are directed towards this end.

A student of Kuriakose Elias School is expected:

*         to observe faithfully the rules of discipline and obey all authorities;

*         to develop healthy habits of mind and body by constant self discipline;

*         to be friendly and courteous to all visitors;

*         to be truthful and honest whatever be the cost;

*         to be respectful to parents and elders;

*          to have a sense of neatness and cleanliness of himself/ herself and surroundings.

*         to bring to the class the text books and notebooks accrording to the time-table of the day. Students should not bring to school or have in their custody any book other than textbooks. Periodicals, comics, magazines, toys, compact discs, etc., are not supposed to be brought to the campus without the special permission of the Principal.

*         not to bring to the school any costly ornaments or wear them. Neither the management nor the teachers will be responsible if such items are lost.

*          to avoid shouting or quarrelling or the use of discourteous language. All complaints should be brought to the notice of the class teacher.

*          to greet the teachers and elders saying ‘Good morning’ or ‘Good afternoon’ as the case may be. They should also greet one another.

*         to speak English in the classrooms and in the campus. They must use English for conversation.

*          to keep the identity card with him/her at the school.
