The Kindergarten and LP sections of K. E School celebrated Onam on the 14th of August 2023 with a festive and vibrant event. The occasion aimed to familiarize young students with the cultural significance of Onam and create an atmosphere of joy and unity. A key moment of the event was the symbolic arrival of King Mahabali (Maveli) dressed in traditional attire, the character of Maveli was portrayed, bringing a sense of authenticity to the Onam celebrations. The event was inaugurated by Kum. MiyaIssa Mehak, who is renowned for her appearance on a popular singing reality show “Top Singer”. Moreover, she graced the occasion with a musical performance. Her melodious voice added a touch of entertainment and joy to the celebration. Rev.Fr. Shyju Venkida CMI, the school’s principal and financial administrator, delivered a presided over the meeting. His words emphasized the importance of cultural heritage and unity, while also highlighting the role of such celebrations in fostering a sense of community. Students of the Kindergarten and LP sections showcased their talents by performing traditional Onam songs. The colorful costumes and cheerful voices of the young participants added a heart warming touch to the celebrations.
A skit related to the story of Onam was presented by the students. Through their enactment, the students brought to life the tale of King Mahabali and the spirit of humility and generosity associated with the festival. The cultural extravaganza continued with a “Vanjippaattu” performance by the students. This traditional form of folk singing further immersed the audience in the cultural essence of Onam.
